Dear boys,

You did a great job last Friday at the prize giving night. Keep it up! :) Have a good rest this week and we'll see you again this Saturday. Please report by 7:30am, in your performance attire (white shirt, tailcoat, black pants, black shoes & socks). It is of utmost importance that you are punctual as we will have only 45 minutes to prepare for the performance. Your parents may fetch you at around 8:45am.

Dear Parents,

Kindly take note of the important dates stated below. As our Strings Ensemble boys will be performing for 2 important end-of-year events, we seek your co-operation to ensure that they attend the practices. Holiday schedule remains the same as updated previously.

Aesthetics CCA Day Consent Form

Dear Parents,

We have given your child a consent form pertaining to the Aesthetics CCA Games Day which will be held on Thursday, 3rd November 2011 from 2:15pm to 4:15pm in school. The event aims to foster team spirit and bonding within each CCA and among all the CCA groups, which is especially crucial considering preparations for the 2012 SYF competition will be in full swing once the final year examinations are over. We have planned a series of games for your child to participate in and he must be properly attired in either his PE t-shirt or the Strings Ensemble polo tee and PE shorts. Please sign the acknowledgement slip and return it to any of the Strings teachers in-charge by Friday, 21st October. Thank you.

Morning Practice.

Hi everyone,

There will be no morning practice from now till 31st October due to the PSLE and CCA stand down. However, there is one last afternoon practice tomorrow, 30th September, before we break for the exams.

Dear Boys,

Our young musicians will be required to wear the following for Sunday's performance:

- White long-sleeved collared shirt (Boys with the pleated satin shirt may wear that instead)

Performance Day - 11th September 2011

Dear Parents,

I'm sure you're very excited about watching our young violinists and cellists in action next Sunday, 11th September at the Singapore Conference Hall (SCH)! I am pleased to announce that tickets to the performance are now available for purchase at $15 each at our school's general office. If you are interested in being a part of the audience, you may purchase the tickets via the Strings Ensemble by indicating the number of tickets required on the order sheet which we will be giving your child, as well as attaching the necessary payment.

As for the rehearsal, the boys are required to assemble in the library at 12.30pm on the performance day. They are to wear our ensemble t-shirt, black pants, black shoes and socks. They will only change into their performance attire after their dinner at SCH.

Upcoming Events.

1. We will be having a combined camp during the September school holidays (Wednesday the 7th till Friday the 9th) with the Concert Band & Chinese Orchestra to prepare ourselves for Instrumental Night. Training will be intensive as there is much to work on. Pupils are to report at 8am on Day One. Those who have not made payment are to do so by this Friday, 26th August.

2. The Instrumental Night performance will be held at the Singapore Conference Hall on Sunday, 11th September from 7:30pm to 9:30pm. Tickets are priced at $15 each. A letter about ticket payment will be issued to the boys by this Friday. The reporting time will be further advised. Watch this space!

The Important Bits.

Hi everyone! Please take note of the following:

1. Seniors involved in the upcoming combined camp, please submit the reply slips to any one of the Strings Ensemble teachers as soon as possible, along with the money ($28.50) in an envelope.

2. There will be afternoon practice for everyone, on Monday 22nd August 2011 until 4:30pm. Seniors, you are expected to attend this session as we will be holding auditions for the upcoming performance. Juniors, practice will go on as per normal for you.

3. Friday's practice on 26th August will go on as per normal for the senior boys. 2:15pm-5pm.

Please note that in lieu of the Presidential Election on Saturday, 27th August 2011, the following Monday, 29th August, is a school holiday. As such, there will be no practice for both the junior and senior boys at 2:15pm. Kindly update the Term 3 schedule we sent out at the start of the semester.

Dear boys,

There will be no morning practice on Monday, 8th August 2011. Morning practice resumes on Thursday, 11th August.

Musical Schedule & Attire.

Dear Boys,

Here are some things you need to take note of should you be performing in the musical.

1. Schedule.

On Wednesday and Thursday (3rd & 4th August), you will be dismissed from class at 12:45pm to have your lunch in the canteen. Assemble at the school porch at 1:15pm so we can board the bus and leave for TRCC. We will be back in school at 6:30pm.

On Friday, 5th August, you are excused from your lessons. We will have breakfast together in the canteen at 7:45am before reporting at the school porch at 8:15am to board the bus to TRCC. We will arrive back in school at 9:15pm.

On Saturday, 6th August, you are to report in school, at the school porch at 1pm. Make sure you have your lunch prior to that as the rehearsal will be in full swing once we arrive at TRCC. We will arrive back in school at 9:15pm and that will be the start of your much needed weekend.

2. Attire.

You are required to wear:

a) A white satin shirt

b) A gold bow tie

c) A black tailcoat

d) Black pants

e) Black socks

f) Black shoes

Note that you are to settle items (d), (e) & (f) on your own.

That's it for now. It's going to be a long and stressful week. Make sure you drink lots of water and sleep early.

Musical Updates.

Hello everyone!

We're one and a half weeks away from a very exciting event - our school musical! As such, it is pertinent that our violinists involved get all the practice they can. The following boys will be performing the piece, 1812 Overture for the musical:

For the boys mentioned above, please note that there is a compulsory rehearsal this Thursday, 28th July 2011 as the Principal and Vice-Principals will be coming down to catch you in action.

In the run-up to the musical next week, there will also be rehearsals held at TRCC on Wednesday, 3rd August 2011 as well as Thursday, 4th August2011. On these two days, the boys will be released from class at 12:45pm for lunch. After which, we will proceed to TRCC together for them to showcase their showcase their magic!

Dear lovely boys,
Please do not forget to place your notebooks in the tray before every afternoon practices.
This is important as I need to check your progress at home.
Please practice at home at your own time and DO NOT forget to bring those notebooks to school :)

'The Journey' - new score for the instrumental night.
This score was specially, exclusively composed by a renowned instructor cum composer, Toni Wei, for the collaboration between Strings, Band and CO.
Please try to practice this on your own at home if possible.
